Brides on a Budget: 2 Ways to Save on your Wedding Day!

Hello! I am a Northern Utah Wedding Photographer and when I got married five years ago, I was a bride on a budget! Even though I saved where I could and DIY’ed my way through my “I DO’s”, I still thought it ended up being such a beautiful and special wedding day!

Here are some ways to save for your BIG DAY!

  1. Toast for the DIYers!

You must first know I am a midwest chick who loves to thrift. That, and an obsession with refurbishing, renovating, and DIY television shows, made my wedding day the ultimate project for a young 20-something Tana.

I handmade the signs, photo booth, chocolate bar wrappers that we put on our party favors. I harvested fallen pinecones while hiking around Utah for my winter-inspired centerpieces and I pinched pennies in anyway I could - including a fake flower/brooch bouquet that I did myself!

(Turns out the pinecone bit also started my lifelong love of Hygge design!)

By pinching pennies on the smaller decor items it allowed me to spend more money on things I truly cared about - for me it was the dress, photography and honeymoon!!!

2. SaVing on the

Va Va Venue!

Being born and raised in Kansas I had to have my wedding at a barn. If you are located in Northern Utah check out Wheeler Farm. They have great scenery on the grounds, are affordably priced, and offer packages like lighting, so on.

Another option if you would like to save EVEN MORE on your venue is having your ceremony in a park and then renting a public building, like a city hall or church for your reception! These options are a lot more affordable, can still be beautiful, and extremely reduce the cost of your venue rental!

Check out this couple’s inspiration! They had their ceremony at a public park and rented chairs. Their friends created their backdrop and it turned out BEAUTIFUL!

Then for the ceremony they reserved a church building for free and did one of the most amazing church gym glam ups I have ever seen! It was elegant and romantic (and they were able to afford a more extravagant honeymoon with their extra savings)!

and drum roll for the greatest church gym glow up……………

Also, for affordable venues you could check out AIRBNB.COM. Some AirBnb hosts allow their homes and grand backyards to be used for weddings as well! These are a great option if you and your bridal party want to stay the night at the venue, too!

Of course there are many more ways to snip and save, but these two larger items I have personally used and felt proud of not going over budget when it came time for the wedding day!

If you need a reasonably priced photographer and fast friend for your wedding day, hit me up! :)
