Isle of Skye Elopement Guide: Best Locations, Tips and Tricks

Do you dream of eloping in Scotland? Traveling throughout Scotland, we did not see one bad view! The countryside is STUNNING and the hikes are incredibly EPIC in the Isle of Skye. If you connect to nature, animals, and grassy/ocean views, Scotland may be the picture perfect place for your elopement! Here are our most epic locations to elope at!

  1. Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr is one of the most popular views of the Isle of Skye for good reason - it is incredibly photogenic! It’s got accessible views if you want easy access for your elopement, or grand hiking views on the 3.5 mile loop as well - for the adventur-ish to the adventurous! One thing is for sure, the rocky pinnacles formed from basalt lava flowing over weaker rock to give way, created stunning landscape from all angles! Best to arrive early as well to avoid too many people around, or arrive in the late afternoon.

2. Quiraing

The Quiriang has stunning, photographic views from all angles. Unique green land formations, as well as rocky stretches and fields of sheep! Plus, there are many stunning overlooks. Average time to complete the loop is 2 hours.

3. Talisker Bay Beach

Talisker Bay Beach is a 2 mile out and back walk that’s great at sunset, as well. It has ocean views plus an epic waterfall over a cliff. This would be such a cute spot for a picnic, ceremony, and then just relaxing on the beach and listening to the ocean with your love as you watch the sunset.

4. Brother’s Point

Brother’s Point has stunning views and grassy formations. Just be sure to bring extra shoes and socks for the hike because sometimes the trail can get muddy and wet.

5. Fairy Glen

It feels like you are in a fairy tale at the Fairy Glen, that was formed over 100,000 years from post glacier landslides. The rolling green hills, coupled with unique formations, stone pathways, and a small pond make for a picture perfect elopement!

6. Neist Point

Neist point has stunning views of a lighthouse on the seaside. This is a popular location for tourists so it is best to complete the hike at sunrise for a morning elopement!

Other Great Locations

Plus, The Coos!

There are many pull-offs in the Isle of Skye where many cute cows, or coos, can be seen as well for a fun stop on your elopement day.

Drones are allowed at these sites, but a U.K. Operator ID and Flyer ID, obtained via the Civil Aviation Authority, is required. These can be attained online, and I have them as well. So if you need a videographer just let me know!

Best Time of Year to Visit Scotland

Spring - You’ll need to bring layers still, but it is warmer than winter and there is less rain in May and June months which are ideal for eloping with less tourists than summertime.

Summer - This is the most common time to visit the Isle of Skye so it is a little more challenging to find a private spot to have your ceremony and vow exchange, BUT the weather is very nice and more sunny at this time.

Fall - The summer crowds have left. Scotland also has beautiful and unique fall colors at this time, but it really starts to rain come September.

Winter - there are very few people around at this time, which is great for photos, but you will need to bring jackets and layers and anticipate some drizzle/rain/fog. Also, the days are shorter!
