Photography Locations: Parks of Northern Utah

Need a park for your bridals, engagements, family shoots or portrait session? With views of the Wasatch Ridge, Northern UT (Salt Lake City Valley) has so many gorgeous parks to shoot at!

As a Northern UT photographer that has done a many different shoots at all of the parks, here are my top seven!

Top Seven Northern Utah Parks

  1. Tunnel Springs Park

With lush, green rolling hills in the spring to wheat hills in the fall, tunnel springs park is a gorgeous location for bridals, engagements or a portrait session. It also has stunning sunset views of the Great Salt Lake. Just be sure to check wind conditions ahead of time because it can get windy being higher up on the mountainside!

2. Big Springs Park

Before you park at Big Springs Park, there is a field on the left with some gorgeous views of the mountains to the south.

If you continue around South Fork Road there are also some gorgeous fields and pull offs of the mountains to the North, as well (like pictured above).

3. Storm Mountain Picnic Area/

Stairs Gulch Trailhead

There is a private field in the Storm Mountain Picnic area perfect for eloping or bridals. Across the street at the Stairs Gulch Trailhead are the views above - large rocks, pine trees and a view of the canyon opening up into Big Cottonwood Canyon.

There are many parks around Utah Lake that have gorgeous views of the mountains and sunsets. One of those parks is the Lindon Marina, that has chunky rocks, a boat harbor and great views of the lake.

5. North Lake Park

This park is great if you need a green park with trees and grass for an easily accessible family photoshoot. It also has a small pond. If you go further, you can walk out towards Utah Lake, as well and get some cool shots of the water and mountains.

6. Hidden Valley Park

Hidden Valley Park in Sandy has nice views of the mountains and the valley. There are some trees that change nice colors in the fall for portrait sessions and it looks gorgeous in snow fall, as well! This is a great spot if you need an easy access location that still has mountain views.

7. Jolley’s Ranch

Jolley’s Ranch in Springville, UT has an old white barn to photograph portraits and families in front of, but also has this gorgeous field and mountain view that is so photogenic! This is great spot for large family shoots!
