Hometown Connections

Sarah and I grew up in the same town in the midwest, but hadn’t really gotten a chance to know each other since we had always gone to different schools. We knew some of the same people growing up, but had never personally crossed paths.

Coincidentally, this bride asked me to photograph her wedding, not even knowing it would be held in my college town! She lives on a farm nearby and wanted to have her wedding at the White Oaks Barn in Kirksville, MO!

This barn didn’t even exist when I went to college in Kirksville. So, it was a joy to see this big, beautiful wedding venue pop up in my absence. White Oaks barn is a “timber framed, two-story barn with a seating capacity for approximately 400 guests.” (As cited on their website https://www.wobarn.com/aboutus)

Other coincidences that Sarah and I discovered were that we both call our grandmas “Mema” and my Mema lives only an hour away from this venue. So, I was happy I got to visit her on this photography trip. :)

In addition, I happened to know some of the bridesmaids at the wedding from my childhood. I reconnected with a girl from my soccer team and one from my cheer squad. Even one who’s sister had dated my little brother. (Of course I had no clue about this because my brother kept his dating life very private from the family). haha

Check out how high these cowboys were able to throw the groom!

I loved that this wedding brought me back in touch with all of these hometown connections and something about it felt so beautiful and nostalgic. Not to mention, that I absolutely die over a barn wedding every time (my wedding was in a barn, as well)!

Sarah is such a beautiful bride & person and her wedding was full of good people! I had such a great time!
