Couples Posing Guide with Horses

HAY! Do you want your horses included in your proposal, engagements, bridal session and wedding day exit? Okay cool. ME TOO! Here’s a posing guide on how you can look great with your best horsy friends, from a Utah and Texas photo & video team!

  1. Through the Reins

Take a great opportunity to frame your photo through the reins! Sometimes you need a secondary hand to assist the photographer on this shot, depending on the horse.

2. Through the Stirrup

Another great framing opportunity for your image is a shot through the stirrups. Again, you may need a second pair of hands to assist the photographer in holding your horse for this shot.

3. The Silhouette Shot

Love the classic western silhouette shot and combined with horses it is just magical. Stay a few extra minutes after sunset to get this shot!

4. Take a Load off - Western Chair Setup

Sometimes a cowgirl needs to take a seat! Add a chair for the option of sitting in your shoot, or showing off your cowgirl boots with, your horse. Who knows, you might even get a little kiss!

5. Showing off the Bling

Show off your ring and bling with some up close shots of your horse. Great for detail shots!

6. Between Two Ferns

When you have two horses to shoot with, it looks really epic having your couple in between them. The couple can look at each other or away from each other for a dramatic shot!

7. The One Up, One Down

It also looks awesome creating new levels, with one rider and one guider.

8. The Seated Straddle

Give the horse a break. Take a seat and straddle your partner!

9. The Lasso

Good at ropin’? Here’s a trust exercise to try. Lasso your partner!

10. The Saddled Kiss

Try out some different poses while riding your horses. Like the saddled kiss, holding hands, the buttocks shot, and just flat out riding!

Don’t forget your chaps for some more photoshoot fun!
